News from Dr. Laurel Kearns:
This past Tuesday, Dr. Beth Norcross and I, and Rev. Fletcher Harper of GreenFaith, all attended a WhiteHouse briefing for faith leaders on climate change. It was exciting to see the breadth of people there, and to hear the presentations from African-American, Latino/a, Hindu, Muslim, Evangelical, Catholic and Episcopalian faith leaders on environmental justice and climate action. They all affirmed their support of President Obama's plan to take some steps regarding climate change, even if without Congressional support. I wish there had been some mention of the deep concerns over scattered regulations on fracking, but only the Rev Gerald Durley, a distinguished civil rights leader, mentioned it. No one mentioned the Keystone pipeline. This article mentions the meeting, but contains much more, including a video from Green for All.
